She attended the School of Visual Arts and the New School of Social Research in New York City, where she then worked in the field of graphic design and illustration. After a move to California, she studied film animation, lithography and ceramics, where she received her Bachelors Degree in Fine Art. While living in Sonoma County, CA Sheila became an important member of Artrails Open Studios and a guest artist in various schools teaching classes on watercolor collage. In 1996 Sheila was chosen as an artist-in-residence at the well-regarded Buena Vista Winery in Sonoma, California. Sheila Golden has combined her multiple skills and talents to translate her love of nature into painting and collage. Her artwork is strongly influenced by the masters; Matisse, Chagall and Kandinsky, along with the great Abstract Expressionists. Sheilas commercial resume to name a few includes background art for Sesame Street, KQED Television, Hallmark, Plus Mark (American Greetings) and Sunrise Cards. Sheila Goldens work is available in children's books, posters, prints, greeting cards (Recycled Paper Greetings), and gift products.
