The Victorinox 125th Anniversary Heritage Swiss Army Knife is truly a treat for knife collectors. This limited edition replica knife (produced in 2009) takes you back to the year 1891. It is a remake of the original Soldier Knife that was supplied to the actual Swiss Army at the end of the 19th century. Every soldier in the military of Switzerland was issued one as part of their standard gear. Master Cutler Karl Elsener began his cutlery factory in 1884 in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland. In 1891 he got a contract directly with the Swiss Army to supply them with a Soldiers Knife that would be useful out in the field. To commemorate the year 1884 when the cutlery factory opened, these limited edition knives will each come with a certificate of authenticity and be numbered from 1 to 1884. There will be 4 collections of only 1884 peices made for various parts of the world. North America is receiving Collection III. The 51884 Heritage Swiss Army Collector's Knife has an overall length of 3 1/2 (91 mm). Features include: large blade, reamer/punch, can opener, screwdriver, commemorative packaging.
