Once upon a time, meats, nuts, and other foods were ground up with a hand-cranked apparatus. In order to keep as ergonomic kitchen as possible, it's important to avoid repetitive tasks that place a high demand on the joints of your hand and wrist. This electric grinder takes on the bulk of the work burden; all there is to do is push the food gently down into the hopper. The most obvious use for the grinder is for meats--sausage, ground beef or lamb, chopped liver, p t s, etc. (The handy sausage stuffer attachment helps guide the ground meat into the casings.) But it's also great for nuts, vegetables, and fruits. The fine grinder plate, for example, is great for making baby food. Clean-up is easy; the detachable hopper and other parts are dishwasher-safe, and the white plastic housing can be wiped down with a warm, soapy rag (it is not immersible).
